Anti Slice Shot
The most common issue in golf is slicing. There are many things people try in order to stop the slice. If you are not doing anything different with your clubface, then it’s not going to work. The clubface is the biggest variable for the direction of the shot. If you want to stop slicing remember the phrase “Clubface is King”. The first step is to close the face in your grip. I recommend that at least 10 degrees be closed to start. If it is still slicing then close it more. The other way you can close the face is to release it more, There are many ways to release the club so you should seek a coach to teach you how to release the club for the shot you want. The release for a hook or a fade is totally different.
Do not move to step two until the ball stops slicing. By closing the face you should get the ball pulling and even curving in the opposite direction. Once that is happening move to step two and drop your right foot behind you so that you are standing on your left leg. This is for a right-handed golfer and you can do the opposite if you are a lefty. From this stance, keep your weight on your left leg work on swinging in to out and finish your swing around your left leg. Your leg is the post and the club is the gate.
Once you can do that, put a shaft in the ground on roughly a 45 degree angle. Then work you hitting shots where you swing the club under the shaft. This should produce a push draw an d will sometimes go 20 – 30 yards further then a weak slice. Remember to relax your body and swing slow as you will have little to no control if you are are moving fast.
